FREE Nature Programs at Pattison Park

Come out to Pattison State Park and enjoy various Nature Programs! The programs are free of charge and open to the public; however, a park admission sticker is required. The topics covered include a variety of subjects relating to nature from the sights and sounds and things that go “bump”, “hoot” and “howl” in the night, to wildlife (finned, furry & feathered) to trees, water, plants & rocks, participants even have a chance to go on a treasure hunt. These hands on programs offer a great opportunity for some fun family time and a unique way for ‘kids’ of ALL ages to learn about the natural world around us.

The following programs are taking place in July:

Thursday, July 15
7:00 p.m. Blood Thirsty Critters- ticks, mosquitoes, flies and leech presentation.

Friday, July 16
7:00 p.m. Wildlife Pack-presentation on gray wolves of Wisconsin.

Saturday, July 17
7:00 p.m. Wildlife Double Jeopardy-pit your wildlife brains against fellow competitors.
9:30 p.m. Intermediate No-Lights Night Hike with park naturalist Jim Craig introduction to the night as wildlife experience it.

Sunday, July 18
7:00 p.m. Electronic Pirates Treasure Hunt- Pattison Park’s own ten-station experience-geocache 101.

Monday, July 19
7:00 p.m. Barking up the Right Tree-experientially making tree identification simple.
9:30 p.m. Intermediate No-Lights Hike-introduction to the night as wildlife experience it.

Tuesday, July 20
7:00 p.m. Wildlife Bingo-bingo with wildlife tid-bits.

Wednesday, July 21
7:00 p.m. Rushing Water-digital photography show of the waterfalls within a day’s trip of Pattison State park (Tom Gerstenberger). Thursday, July 22
7:00 p.m. TBA

Friday, July 23
7:00 p.m. Martin Pattison and Camp Pattison-the story behind the CCC.
9:45p.m. Advanced No-Lights Hike-discover the night like the nocturnal animals-not recommended for younger children-hour-long and dark dark.

Saturday, July 24
7:00 p.m. Clown of the Northwoods-funny bears, but beware!

Sunday, July 25
7:00p.m. Wild Talking Birds- English phrases to identify local birds.

Monday, July 26
7:00 p.m. Green Stuff Detectives-a hike to get acquainted with the plants of Pattison Park.

Tuesday, July 27
7:00 p.m. Mysterious Loons-intriguing highlights about this unique bird.

Wednesday, July 28 -7:00 p.m. Legends of Pattison Park- sing-along and stories by the Pied Piper of Pattison Park (Cheri Tesarek).

Thursday, July 29
7:00 p.m. TBA

Friday, July 30
7:00 p.m. Here Kitty! Snarl with the wildcats of Douglas County-cougars and Bobcats!
